About me

Name: Sokolov Michail Borisovich
Place of residence: Russian Federation, Kirov-city.
Education: High (certificate of degree with distinction).

I was born in Kirov-city. I live there till now. I was studied in Vyatka state pedagogical university on a speciality "chemistry and ecology".

I have never studied programming anywhere. Everything I can I have learnt by myself: from books, learning one's sources, by try-and-error method. As it is spoken, "If you want to study programming - you should take disassembler, and see the way others do it".

My first computer was ZX Spectrum, made in Russia. Until now I have a nostalgia of it. Later I had XT (and that was the time when Pentium hadn't already been considered to be a great rarity), then 80486 and so on.

I like programs for DOS and little programs at all. It's a pity that in modern programs for Windows 20-30 Kb is size of programme's code and 200-300 Kb is interface size. And such correlation has the vast majority of programs.

In my opinion, some programs have large size, not propering to their functionality (Windows and Microsoft Office, for example). At the same time there are some wonderful programs with the same functionality, but their size is dozens and hundreds of times less. They are usually written by one person or small company (for examlpe, Irfan View, XMPlay, htm2chm, Light Alloy etc.)
